Taurus versus Scorpio - "The dance of the Signs"

TAURUS VS. SCORPIO

257- “How should one understand the benefit of obstacles when one is told that psychic energy, acting as a magnet, attracts all possible advantages? Truly, when a large ship increases its speed the resistance of the waves increases too.

Similarly, many obstacles are brought about by our own striving. It is this process that attracts to us unexpected actions by an opposing will.

If they are very strong, our own counter-stroke will develop accordingly. Most important the currents opposing us should be strong, because then our flame is ignited.

Consider this inflaming useful; a conflagration would be dangerous.

By inflaming I mean when the crystal form of the flame of the centre is retained ; conflagration is when the centre flares up in a blaze.

When someone is said to be depressed by circumstances, be assured that he lives unignited, and that any encounter with an obstacle confuses his consciousness...but when the step is firm, the counter forces are beneficial... Agni Yoga

This Sutra inspired me so much because Agni Yoga is the Yoga of Fire, and as such, It gives impetus to the Astrological Science.

If we consider the opposite signs in the Zodiac we find out that they interact each-other constantly.

This pressure springing from different “currents” generates a deep awareness or objectivity in how to “sail” in life, using Astrology as a Tool.

If, for instance, we take into consideration the currents between Taurus and Scorpio we can experience the fixed strength of both signs. Taurus is “preserving”, Scorpio is “regenerating.”

In its highest essence, Taurus represents the Mother nature, the stability of beauty and life upon the planet Earth. Scorpio is the cycle “death and rebirth”of the same principle: the seasonal cyclic law.

The former brings to us the stability of values, the latter forces the same values to be constantly re-polarized. Through the draining of the negative energies on the surface, Scorpio transforms them into a new stream of healing and strength.

Both currents face each other, they are confronting energies which result, ultimately, in “flames of growth.” An extremely creative and artistic talent springs out of these intermingling forces; the titanic confrontation, Taurus versus Scorpio sparkles in action.

This is really the type of struggle between Rajas (activity) and Tamas (inertia), and they are so equal in proportion that the combat is flaming. “Tamas induces love of ease and pleasure, Rajas, on the other hand, is fiery, impatient, ever urging to action” - Esoteric Psychology – A.A.Bailey.

If these signs belong to the earth and water elements, fire and air are always present in the final synthesis. It is this type of Energy which gives birth to the appearance of colours, and inspires artists.

Serenity, confidence, self-control, purity, unselfishness, accuracy, and mental and moral balance, are the virtues to be finally acquired when the smooth flow between the two signs is reached.

It is indeed a beautiful confrontation, the confrontation between Taurus and Scorpio. It is the “Fascinating Dance” of the Zodiacal opposites. Evolution develops not through harmony alone, but it is the alternation of conflict and harmony. Without conflict, harmony becomes stagnation. Evolution is movement, and conflict ensures movement. That's why the synthesis between the currents of Taurus and Scorpio are ruled by “Harmony through Conflict.”

Let us “set Sailing,” wherever in our chart Taurus versus Scorpio is, let us push to find the joy spreading from this confrontation, because, where there is dark, there lies much more light.

How to react with depression

Saturn rules this state of unbalance, we call depression. Nowadays, depression is an illness that is manifesting itself all over the world. The planet, rules all types of material forms. This influence includes the mineral world as well as our planet Earth. Saturn's connection with the law of gravity and the principle of responsibility are well known to the astrologers.

Saturn gives us, blocks and delays and also makes us free: it is a paradox. These blocks must be seen as opportunities to grow and prove ourselves as maturing individuals. In this way we grow and in growing we get rid of past entanglements. Saturn represents time and karma. Time and karma, if rightly used, gives stability. Saturn is a severe spiritual teacher, as Saturn sends us the difficulties that we need to overcome to enlighten ourselves. We can come to terms with his energy, only if we are able to reach a spiritual level, otherwise we find ourselves in the quicksands. Like physical quicksands,

the more the you move into the saturnial problem, the more you sink: it is only by using spiritual resources that you can escape from the problem. Depression is very much linked to the state of the mind, and Saturn has a mental vibration.

All the fears, emotional upsets, anxieties, and splinters from the collective DNA, etc., form what has been called in spiritual sciences the Dweller-on-the-Threshold. It is by facing the Dweller-on-the-Threshold that we progress. If we do not struggle with the Dweller-on-the-Threshold we will remain inert and lost. Everyone has to be reckon with it.

The Dweller-on-the-Threshold has the nature of a gigantic thought-form or factor, which must be faced and dissipated in order to further development. Its characteristics are big illusions-glamour-maya.

Illusions, glamour, and maya are states so frequent in our daily life are mental and emotional distortions of the true reality. At this point, to face this “ huge cloud” meditation, study, and service to mankind are able to dissipate all this accumulated glamour of ages.

The mind with the omniscient help of the Soul, can break through, and clarify the dark spots. In the Bhagavad Gita, Arjuna had to face his despair which was caused by an overwhelming depression.

Krishna, came to help him to overcome and win the Illusion which was real cause of his despair.

Krishna gave to him some simple rules to follow:

a- Know that you are Immortal

b- Control the mind, because this is the tool to know the Immortal

c- Know that the form veils and hides the divine reality

d- Realize that there is only one Life pervading all forms, so, death does not exist, nor does anxiety, nor does separation.

e- Detach yourself from the form and come to Me in the place of Light and Peace, so the Illusion disappears.

On a more scientific- spiritual angle, depression is a lack of good-will. When the quality of good in life, is not expressed, the negation of good turns itself against the owner, causing an attrition which can cause illness. Depression acts especially on people who has a predominance of the mental nature.

Saturn is a sever Teacher, but Saturn holds the keys to open your doors!
