BLESSINGS OF THE BUDDHAS

What is the Maitreya Project?

The historical collection of more than 1,000 Relics will be enshrined in the heart of a statue of Maitreya Buddha being built in Kushinagar, India.

The purpose of the Maitreya Project is to bring as much benefit to as many people as possible for as long as possible. This is achieved through the practise of loving-kindness towards oneself and others.

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama explains:-

“When we have inner peace, we can be at peace with those around us. When our community is in a state of peace, it can share that peace with neighbouring communities and so on. When we feel love and kindness towards others it not only makes others feel loved and cared for but also helps us to develop inner happiness and peace.”

“This Project is really wonderful and is the result of great courage and determination, and from the depth of my heart I appreciate and applaud this wonderful project and all those people connected with this project-the benefactors and all the others who have contributed and are contributing to it.

You should realize that this is a very holy and sacred Project”.

Who is Maitreya Buddha?

Maitreya is known as the Buddha of living-kindness. He will appear in this world after the time of Shakyamuni Buddha and teach the dharma.

It is just about building a huge statue?

No. Lama Zopa Rinpoche has said:”The statue itself is not the goal, it is the method for achieving the goal.”

The Project's ultimate goal is to create peace and harmony throughout the world. To achieve this, we offer a way of life based on the attitude of loving-kindness. The central, focal point embodying this loving-kindness is the beautiful, golden Mitreya statue with the sacred relics inside.

What is the Maitreya Project Heart Shrine Relic Tour?

A collection of more than 1,000 sacred relics of the Buddha and other Buddhist Masters is now touring the world. These relics will be permanently enshrined inside the heart of a magnificent Maitreya Buddha statue being built in Kushinagar, India due for completion in 2010.

How does the Project promote loving-kindness and peace?

*By providing immediate, direct, muche needed support for the local Indian people including schools, a network of local clinics offering free medical treatment, local jobs and resulting economic growth. There is already a school in Bodhgaya offerinf free education and health care to local children.

*By giving visitors the tools to develop their loving-kindness within a center for spiritual development and academic excellence-including monastery, nunnery, sacred art, meditation/lecture halls, peaceful pavilions and spiritual sanctuaries with information on the study and practice of metta or loving kindness.

*By being a dynamic example of loving kindness in action to the world. People can find a source of inspiration by watching the growth of the Project via the world media.

Nearly 3 million of children are reported...

CHILDREN'S MEMORIAL FLAG

The Child Welfare League of America is the nation's oldest and largest membership-based child welfare organization. Was founded in Washington DC in the year 1998.

On the 27 th of April, has been launched the Children Memorial Flag Campaign to let know ,publicly, that nearly 3 million children are reported to be abused and neglected ,every year.

The Children Memorial Flag has been designed by a 16 y.o. Californian youth and shows five doll-like figures of children standing side-by-side, holding hands against a red backcloth.

A sixth child, in the center, is represented by a thin, white chalk outline, symbolizing a child lost to violence. The “lost-child”!

April has been recognised as the Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Reports say that :”the United States leads the world in homicides against children and youth under age 15, accounting for 73% of all homicides and 54% of all suicides of children, birth to age 15”.

In the year 2002 the dead children reached the number of 1.390 .

Abused and neglected children , in Astrology are ruled by the planet Saturn, when he is in distress.

Saturn represent limitations and things that you cannot do.

Difficulties ,with this planet, turn out in the most difficult psychological problems you can have in your life.

Saturn repress the energy of the other planet when in difficult aspect, with it,in a chart. He causes a frustration and a storage in the unconscious mind., creating a very hard situation to deal with.

Saturn is related to one's father, and, in difficult aspects to other planets shows an hard relationship with the father-figure.

Often, an inferiority-complex lies dormant.

An aggressive projection from the inner to the outer world, represented in this case by a child, might be ,for some, a release for this frustration!

Saturn,on the other hand, is a testing ground to prove a person's level of maturity.

He gives to us the opportunities to grow in awareness and consciousness, trough overcoming the obstacles.

He is a most spiritual guardian, he is a Karmic choice. To take responsibilities on this worldwide problem of the abuse on children , for us all, becomes a matter of maturity!

THE SUFFERINGS OF TIBET

CHINA DESTROYS GIANT BUDDHIST STATUE IN TIBET

Published by the Canada Tibet Committee

In a demonstration of tightening controls over religious freedom in Tibet, the Chinese People's Armed Police (PAP) destroyed a 30-foot high statue of the Buddhist figure of Guru Rinpoche, or Padmasambhava in Samye Monastery, the oldest monastery in Tibet.

Guru Rinpoche is worshipped by Tibetan and Chinese Buddhists alike as the founder of Buddhism in Tibet in the 8th century.

Chinese authorities claim that the statue, which was constructed using funds from two Chinese Buddhists, violated regulations passed in January 2007 stating that “organizations and individuals not belonging to religious organizations or places of religious activity may not erect or construct large-scale outdoor religious statues or mani lhakhang (prayer wheel temple).”

After the Chinese occupation of Tibet in 1949, over 6.000 monasteries, nunneries, and temples were looted of precious religious artefacts or destroyed entirely.

Over 110.000 religious leaders (including monks, nuns, and others) were tortured and put to death; an additional 250.000 were forcibly dis robed.

Thousands of refugees continue to flee Tibet each year in search of religious freedom they can no longer enjoy in their own country.

If we trust in the Law of Karma, Reincarnation can provide some answers into the question if exists justice in the world.

We have to look deeper in the past, to find out if, presently, the law of cause-effect is in action.

This as to do with individuals, as well as groups because conflicts, wars, genocide, sufferings, have a lot to do with “group-karma”.

Souls reincarnate in groups to learn some spiritual lessons, or like the case of the Tibetan, to carry out an higher spiritual purpose for humanity.

The Dalai Lama pointed out that the Chinese invasion of Tibet and the destruction of Tibetan monasteries caused the spread of the Buddhists monks to the West and its growing popularity.

This state of things would not have happened if all the monks had stayed in Tibet.

The Dalai Lama pointed out in an interview with The New York Times, that the present invasion from China has to do with hidden causes stretching back into the previous lives of both countries.

Has been said that when a country hates another, chances are that their people will reincarnate into the nation which is the object of hate.

I herd, in a meeting of spiritual sciences in Canada, lately, that the needs of the Young Chinese people, are suddenly changing.

Seems that they are searching and looking for spiritual direction.

Their minds and hearts are going in the direction of the “Tibetan path.”

So, not only the western countries, but the young Chinese too, will benefit from this “group karma'. Karma which links China and Tibet. Karma which the Tibetans carry out with a spiritual purpose.

May the young Chinese -people be strong enough, one day, to change the Tibetan suffering!
